The Buffalo Sabres should be the biggest sellers at this year’s trade deadline and you better believe their former Hart Trophy winner is drawing interest. Yes, we’re talking about Taylor Hall and there’s absolutely no reason for the team to hold onto him right now. The question is… does he want out of Buffalo?
The not-so-surprising answer is yet, of course he does!
Asked if he’d be willing to listen to trade options, Hall, who has a no-movement clause on his one-year, $8 million deal, bluntly admitted he would in fact be open to the idea. Buffalo is riding a 16-game losing streak so how could you possibly blame him?
Through 12 NHL seasons, Hall, 29, has just two playoff appearances and 14 postseason games to his name. There should be plenty of interest given his reasonable cap-hit and term, the question is… who will it be? Could a match with the Leafs be in the cards? A reunion with the Oilers? Who knows, but general manager Kevyn Adams’ phone should be ringing off the hook.
The deadline is scheduled for April 12 and Hall likely won’t be the only moved from the NHL’s last place team. Buckle up hockey fans.
