John Carlson is officially off the board as of Sunday evening after re-signing with the Washington Capitals. That’s huge news, but he actually wasn’t even the highest touted John in free agency. That’s because of a man that goes by Tavares.
John Tavares has made a lot of headlines as he stands as one of the biggest free agents to hit the market in recent years. With the hiring of Barry Trotz and Lou Lamoriello in New York many believe that he will now stay with the Islanders, but apparently he’s hearing other offers.
Now it seems like his often talked about five-team list is finally almost set. Among the teams on the list are reportedly the Leafs, the Stars, and the Sharks, with the Bruins, Lightning, and Preds possibly joining them.
No luck in Montreal or Vegas as they apparently did not make the final cut. It seems like Tavares wants to either slide into a situation where winning is imminent or stay with the Islanders (who have actually been shaping up pretty nicely as well).
The most talked about free agent in recent years is getting close, whose threads will he be donning come October?
