Super Smash Bros is one of the most exciting esports titles around, but the scene has been held back because of lackluster prize pools. That will certainly change after the massive announcement of the Smash World Tour.

The tour includes both Super Smash Bros Melee and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Both games have a much different player base, but both games are thriving in terms of viewership. Even still, the Smash games haven’t gotten support from Nintendo, which has resulted in the scene being less prosperous than other esports.

The Smash World Tour will run from March to December, where players can pick up points from events around the World. At the end of the Tour, the top 31 players and the winner of a last chance qualifier will compete in the Championship for a $250,000 prize pool.

It’s been a long-time coming for pro Smash players who have kept the scene alive through their own hard work and dedication. At EVO Japan, Smash Ultimate’s first place prize was a Nintendo Switch pro controller. Now that the Smash World Tour is in place, there’s a lot to be excited about.
