Who is the greatest Canadian athlete of all time? Some may say Wayne Gretzky, others may say a gold medal Olympian, but one thing is definitely certain – the greatest Canadian basketball player of all time is undoubtedly Steve Nash.

Not only is Steve Nash a two-time NBA MVP, but he also paved the way for Canadian basketball. His craftiness while constantly being one of the smallest guys on the court was inspiring for a generation of kids growing up, and many current NBAers model their game after Nash’s unselfish play.

Now, Nash is being rewarded in a big way.

Nash has officially made it into basketball’s greatest fraternity – the Hall of Fame. Absolutely nobody is arguing it.

One of the most rewarding experiences you can have as a basketball player is to stand up in front of all those you’ve inspired so much, and give you Hall of Fame speech with the entire basketball world listening. Nash used this time to explain that the greatest experience of his career didn’t come on the NBA court. It came on the international stage, when he was representing Canada.

While this is enough to melt the hearts of Canadians across the country, Nash continued to solidify himself not only as an inspiration, but a supremely good guy when he also used his special time to relay a message to kids watching him.

Now that Nash has been immortalized by the Hall of Fame, Canadian basketball fans can rest easier. Remaining active in the Canadian sports landscape has always been a part of Nash’s motivation, and you can pretty much bet the farm that that’s not going to change anytime soon.

From all of Canada; congratulations Steve!
