After 16 NHL seasons, Brian Gionta has called it quits.

The American enjoyed an illustrious career, racking up 291 goals and 304 assists in 1,026 games, which were split between the New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres. Milestones included winning a Stanley Cup with the Devils in 2003 and participating in multiple Olympic games, but perhaps none of that compared to having the opportunity to compete against his younger brother Stephen. After Brian announced his retirement, Stephen couldn’t help but throw a nice little chirp in on his older bro.

Just some good ole’ brotherly love right there!

In his own presser, Gionta didn’t discuss his taste in music, but remained humble as he announced he was stepping away from the game.

Give yourself some credit, Brian!

At just 5’7, Brian will go down as one of the better small men to ever play the game. We’re sure all of those hours listening to lousy music in the gym helped both he, and his little bro crack 'The Show'.
