In the NBA Finals, some trash talk is to be expected, but there are always reasonable boundaries. Unfortunately, Steph Curry’s parents, Sonya and former Raptor Dell Curry, were subjected to taunts, profanity and yelling from Raptors fans as they were arriving at their hotel after the Warriors’ Game 5 win.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Curry said that while he’s encountered all kinds of opposing fans trying to get into his head in the usual ways, it’s another thing entirely to have a go at his parents. Regardless, he’s taking the high road here.

Trash talk, getting jokes off, trying to shake the away team off their game, that’s all part of playoff basketball and sports in general, but hurling expletives and personal insults at players or parents is definitely a slimy move.

Raptors fans have become a bit villainized all of a sudden, after many cheered upon Durant’s tragic Achilles tear. As has already been pointed out, some of those fans were cheering for steal and successful fast break on the other end, but there has also been plenty of footage of fans cheering for Durant’s injury specifically as well — and the Warriors are within reason to be upset.

As a whole, it seems Raps fans still have some stuff to work on.
