When the Vegas Golden Knight joined the NHL, they made a splash in a number of ways. Mainly, they went to the Stanley Cup Final… so yeah, that’s pretty huge. Additionally, though, they managed to carve out an identity that no other team could come close to replicating.
Their theatrics and entertainment value just screamed “Vegas!”, but it was their social media presence that got the ball rolling for the adolescent squad. Since their inception, the team behind the account has had absolutely no problem going toe-to-toe with other team’s Twitter accounts.
Facing the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final, we were sure the two accounts would square off at some point. They did so in the middle of Game 2 in a pretty comical way.
While it’s possible that the Stars’ social media coordinator is named Patrick, we’re thinking that they’re referencing the scene in Spongebob Squarepants in which someone calls the Krusty Krab, only to have Patrick Star turn them away explaining that it’s not the Krusty Krab, that it’s Patrick.
“No, this is Patrick.”
For the record, my name is Jeff. (Insert Channing Tatum meme here.)
