Steven Stamkos is one NHL player who is very familiar with the media circus that can follow players on days like the NHL Trade Deadline, so he’s trying to keep things light at practice.
It’s probably a little easier to crack jokes when you’re the number one team in the NHL and not attached to any rumours, but Stamkos decided to throw one of his teammates into the mix of trade rumours. Stamkos was at practice and yelled out “Did Pointer get traded yet?”.
Obviously, it’s easier to make jokes like this when you’re the top team in the league. Tampa Bay is unlikely to make much noise on Trade Deadline Day and if they were, it seems almost impossible that they would include Brayden Point who is having a monster year.
Although, as much as they seem unlikely to make too many moves, Stamkos does seem to like the idea of playing with Wayne Simmonds.
