Everything was looking so good for the Tampa Bay Lightning until… the worst happened.

Star forward Nikita Kucherov was forced to exit Game 6 after taking a rough cross-check from Scott Mayfield and it didn’t look good… at all. Kucherov led the playoffs in points before the injury and it’s unclear if he’ll be sidelined for Game 7.

The Lightning obviously weren’t pleased with the play and captain Steven Stamkos had some words to say about it after the game. The usually calm Stammer couldn’t even help himself from acknowledging Mayfield was probably looking for a cheap shot on his buddy.

You know you did something bad when Stamkos is calling you out. He’s not blaming the refs, however, as he acknowledged that they can’t catch every call.

Kucherov’s absence would be brutal for a Lightning team looking to repeat. Time will tell if he makes his way back into the lineup.
