Joe Thornton has come a very long way since he entered the NHL as an 18-year-old during the 1997-98 season. Through 1,493 career games, the 38-year-old has totaled 397 goals and 1,030 assists for 1,427 points.
Earlier this month, the six-time NHL All-Star was honoured in his hometown of St. Thomas, Ontario, as the local arena formerly known as the Timkin Centre was renamed to the Joe Thornton Community Centre.
The city held the official renaming ceremony this past weekend and the 2006 Art Ross Trophy winner was in attendance for the special occasion.
Aside from having the arena renamed in his honour, Thornton was also added to the St. Thomas Wall of Fame the same day.
