With the 2018 MLB season just one day away, pictures and videos are starting to emerge of how each team will dress up their respective stadiums for Opening Day.
Opening Day in Toronto will be unlike any other Opening Day in franchise history.
It’ll mark the first Blue Jays game since the franchise lost arguably the greatest pitcher in franchise history in a horrific plane crash. Roy “Doc” Halladay, who holds the Blue Jays club record with seven Opening Day starts (2003-2009), will have his No. 32 retired prior to opening pitch when the Jays host the Yankees down at dome on Thursday afternoon.
TSN Blue Jays reporter Scotty Mitchell shared this photo below of a banner that will hang to the right of the right field foul pole next to Roberto Almoar’s Centre of Excellence name plate to honour Halladay. The banner will likely mean that Halladay will be the latest Jay to join the club.
Halladay joins Alomar as the only Blue Jay to ever have their number retired in franchise history.
The Blue Jays will wear a special No. 32 patch on their jerseys for the 2018 season.
