I think we can all agree that diving in any sport is the absolute worst.

Hockey, basketball and soccer all feature simulated diving or "flopping" to some degree, thanks to a system that rewards players for dropping to the ground after receiving light contact. That being said, out of every sport that does feature diving, soccer is by far the worst offender. But fans of the beautiful game are well aware of that, that's why the Fallon d'Floor awards (a play on the Ballon D'Or) exist.

At the end of the calendar year the community at Reddit soccer starts to compile the best/most egregious dives of the year, and we think their latest selection may be the clear cut winner. Friday, in an international friendly between Colombia and South Korea, James Rodriguez had decided that he was tired of seeing an opposing player stall for time on the ground. So what did he do? He picked up his opponent, and fell to the ground with a fake injury of his own after being slapped.

There really is no defending this sort of play. Actually, wait, yes there is. For the sake of comedy, plays like this need to happen more often, because this video clip is a real gem and genuine contender for the Fallon d'Floor 2017 award.
