We know J.J. Watt as a big football guy (one of the biggest football guys, frankly), but is he much of a hockey guy?

More than you might think. Not only did Watt play hockey growing up, but he says that he’d love to be involved with any potential Houston NHL team. Forget season tickets — this guy wants to be an owner.

It’s mostly in jest, as Watt jokes that he doesn’t have enough money to get in on any Houston bid for an NHL team, he’d love to be in a “figurehead” role if anyone would ask.

He also talks about his appreciation for being a multi-sport athlete growing up (“I think that [skating and playing hockey], throughout my youth, helped me to learn how to use my body and carry my weight.”) as well as sharing that football and hockey would be his two sports if he could still be a multi-sport athlete.

Watt’s hockey fandom is no secret, as he’s been open about everything from the NHLer that is his favourite athlete of all-time, to his takes on the Mighty Ducks film series, to even sharing video footage of his own on-ice pedigree.
