Being named to a World Juniors roster is a fantastic way to develop a young hockey career. It is generally a player’s first taste of international hockey, and it is undoubtedly the largest stage they would have played on to that point in their life.

Playing on the team is one thing, but having the chance to wear a letter is extra special. We’ve seen heroes being born with a ‘C’ or an ‘A’ on their chest at this tournament, and you can bet that recently named captain Kaiden Guhle, along with his 2022 World Junior Championship alternate captains Cole Perfetti and Jake Neighbours, were feeling pretty special when the announcement was made.

Especially since it’s a former World Juniors gold medalist and NHL legend Sidney Crosby delivering the news!

This isn’t the first time an NHL superstar has assisted in announcing the World Juniors captain. Last season, Connor McDavid helped out in announcing Kirby Dach as team captain.

The news was always going to be special, but having an established legend and former Team Canada World Juniors alum deliver the news makes it even more special.
