Considered one of the best dressers in the NBA by just his second season, Hamilton native Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has now landed a shoe deal with Converse to become the face of their brand.
It’s a nice bit of recognition for the rising young star, who has definitely thrown his name into the mix for the best Canadian player in the NBA today.
Shai joins Draymond Green and Kelly Oubre as other NBAers with the brand, as well as Natasha Cloud of the WNBA’s Washington Mystics. Converse has offered to cover Cloud’s salary for the upcoming season, which she is sitting out in favour of fighting for social justice reform, so the brand clearly takes care of its athletes.
To start, Shai is going to wear the Converse All-Star Pro BB Low, and he's expected to have design input over custom versions of the show. We’ll see whether or not a signature shoe is in his future.
