Sergei Bobrovsky is now a Florida Panther after signing on for a lengthy and lucrative 7-year, $70M deal. He was one of the most highly coveted free agents, and certainly the most desired goaltender to move, so term was certainly a factor we all expected to see.

He got it, as a 7-year contract will keep him down south for quite a while. In order to make Bob feel more at home immediately, Frank Vatrano decided he would give up the #72 to his new keeper of the crease.

 

 

While it was a nice act for Vatrano to give it up to the newcomer, he wasn’t about to let it go for free. No, no, no… he was going to take advantage at least a little bit.

 

 

Not a bad trade off to have one of the numbers on your jersey changed! Probably earned some brownie points with his new goaltender too, which is likely just as important…
