Sidney Crosby is a pretty low key guy, but it really does seem like he’s one of the most genuine personalities in the sport.

Like we said, though, he’s a pretty low key guy: he rarely does interviews or anything like that, and we get very few glimpses into his private life. So when he was featured on Spitting Chiclets last summer, it was a pretty big deal. One of the best stories from the interview was the now-infamous tale of when a rookie Sid got a puppy named Sam while living with Pens legend Mario Lemieux, and one day came home to Lemieux cleaning up his new puppy’s accident.

Yeah, not ideal, but definitely hilarious in hindsight.

You might have heard him mention he still has that dog today, and the Penguins’ social media just confirmed that. Look at this duo!

So. Cute!

This got us wondering about how much this duo has grown together through the years, and we found some picture that absolutely melted our hearts.

Wasn’t Crosby just a rookie, like, yesterday though?

These photos sure made us feel old, and Sam and Sid are one of the sweetest duos in the league.
