There were a lot of hockey fans who needed some time to let Gritty grow on them after the Philadelphia Flyers revealed their mascot to the world, but there were a lot of fans who instantly fell in love with the playful mascot.
Former Flyers forward Scott Hartnell was one of the people who hit it off with Gritty right off the bat to the point where people started a conspiracy theory that Hartnell was actually the person behind the mascot.
On Monday, the 37-year-old headed off to the grocery store but not before showing off his Gritty-themed face mask with his fans.
We’ve seen people rock different types of masks and face guards while heading out into public during the pandemic, but the Gritty-themed one is a first.
Of course, Gritty being Gritty, the Flyers mascot responded to Hartnell saying he’s been rocking a Hartnell-themed one.
If you see someone who resembles Scott Hartnell at the grocery store it might actually be him. Or Gritty. Either way, keep your distance and stay at least 6 feet apart.
