When you’re good at your job, and you prove that over and over again as you move up the ranks, it just makes sense that you eventually get the nod to do it on the biggest stages ever.

Which is why it shouldn’t be a headline story that NFL official Sarah Thomas is going to be the Down Judge at this upcoming Super Bowl; she’s consistently good at her job, and it’s probably more surprising to some that this will be her first crack at officiating a Super Bowl. It is though, because Thomas will be the first woman to ever do it.

Thomas became the NFL's first full-time female official back in 2015, and just six years later, she’s on the brink of becoming the first woman to officiate a Super Bowl.

Congrats to Sarah on all of her hard work, and this well-deserved accomplishment!
