Saquon Barkley suffered a torn ACL on Sunday afternoon in what will likely finish the year as one of the most tragic NFL storylines. While nobody was necessarily sticking Barkley and the New York Giants in the Super Bowl this season, the G-Men’s offence was finally feeling pretty exciting in Daniel Jones’ 2nd season under centre and a plethora of talent at wide receiver.

Barkley’s injury is a crushing blow, but it didn’t take long for him to make waves in another way. Saquon deleted every photo from his Instagram, with the exception of one – a photo of Kobe posted after the Lakers legend passed away back in January.

Whenever a player conducts a massive social media makeover, fans are bound to overreact. Are they unhappy with their team? What’s the hidden meaning?

As you may expect, there was some of this overreaction. Fans seemed to think it had something to do with his position with the Giants, when – in our humble opinion – it’s clear that he’s simply stating that he wants to have a “Mamba Mentality” as he recovers from the devastating injury.

As basketball fans know, Kobe famously hit two free throws after tearing his Achilles, an injury that he had to make his way back from as well.

Not all the comments brought up some sort of sensationalized discontent with the Giants, but we’re just here to remind everyone not to make mountains out of molehills.
