The Detroit Red Wings selected Sam Stange with the 97th overall pick in the 4th round of the 2020 NHL Draft on Wednesday, and he found out about the good news in a pretty unusual way.

Most of the players were probably sitting at home when they found out they had been drafted, but Stange was on the ice with his Wisconsin Badgers teammates when he was handed a phone with the Red Wings waiting on the line.

Stange wasn’t the only 2020 draft prospect who found out he had been drafted to the NHL in the middle of practice.

You love to see it.
