Since being drafted with the first overall pick in last month’s WNBA Draft, Sabrina Ionescu is wasting no time in supporting her new home team’s local community during a time of need.

The New York Liberty rookie is partnering with Nike to donate 15,000 new Air Zoom Pulse sneakers to frontline healthcare workers in New York; the Air Zoom Pulse was launched by Nike as a sneaker designed specifically for medical workers’ needs in 2019.

Ionescu has long been projected as the next big thing in the WNBA, after an illustrious college career at Oregon that established a number of historical firsts. She joins Canadian All-Star Kia Nurse on the Liberty.

Ionescu was just one of a number of Nike athletes to contribute to the donation, with Ja Morant, Joc Pederson and more joining in to the cause.
