The Washington Football Team came into the 2020-21 season not really sure what to expect. #2 overall pick Chase Young made an already-daunting D-line even more threatening. On top of that, Antonio Gibson had a lot of fans excited, while another year of Terry McLaurin development didn’t hurt either.

Saying all that, there probably weren’t many people that expected PLAYOFFS from the Football Team.

To be fair, you could say that they didn’t really deserve to make the playoffs as much as they were just lucky to be in the right division. Still, they rounded into form as the year went along, and they weren’t seen as the “easy out” during Super Wild Card Weekend either.

What a rollercoaster ride, right? We can only imagine what it was like for head coach Ron Rivera.

“Riverboat Ron” came into his first season with the Football Team with a massive obstacle not even related to football. Rivera was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in his neck,

Throughout the season, Rivera was undergoing chemo therapy. During games, he would sometimes be hooked up into an IV at halftime to combat fatigue. Between Rivera and Alex Smith’s inspiring comeback story, it became pretty hard to cheer against Washington.

On Thursday, football fans were treated to some very welcome news - Rivera’s daughter Courtney announced that her father had officially tested cancer free.

 EVERYONE loves that!
