Training camp and exhibition season is a time for players to sharpen up their toolbox before the regular season gets going.

Teams will continue to be making cuts in the coming day, as they trim their rosters down to 23 prior to opening night of the regular season.

While exhibition games will be frequent, coaching staffs will use practice days as further evaluation, particularly for bubble players who are fighting to be named to the opening night roster.

For the Nashville Predators, they have a number of players that are guaranteed to be on the team, headlined by captain Roman Josi, considered to be one of the premier defenders in the game today.

Not known for his shootout skills, Josi took got the nod in the team’s practice on Wednesday for a one-on-one showdown against goaltender Juuse Saros.

Josi made a couple of slick moves to get Saros to bite, before bringing it to his backend and sliding it home. What happened next is pretty funny.

Goes for the celly, proceeds to blow a tire in front of numerous Preds fans.

When in doubt, blame the Preds equipment manager for not properly sharpening Josi’s skates.

On the bright side, at least Josi got a big standing ovation for his rustiness.
