Roman Josi has played a lot of hockey in the last two seasons, but nothing was going to stop him from playing for gold at the IIHF Worlds.
We would have thought that already after the Swiss upset the Canadian squad in the semi-final, but we didn’t realized how far it went. According to the site Swiss Hockey News, Josi played in the gold-medal game with a broken hand. According to the team’s head coach, Patrick Fisher, he broke his hand in the semi-final game against Canada.
This was more than just playing too – he excelled.
Josi ended up playing over 28 minutes, logging two assists on the only two goals that Switzerland scored. The Swiss went on to lose the gold-medal game in a shootout, which is already devastating, but probably stung a little more after playing a full game with a broken hand.
Josi is an absolute warrior on the ice, but he seems to have a softer side off the ice.
