The Carolina Hurricanes have been one of the most surprising teams in the NHL this season as they’re two games above .500 and nine games back of a playoff spot through 47 games, even after getting rid of Jeff Skinner and Elias Lindholm this past offseason.

Last weekend the Hurricanes picked up two big wins as they shocked both the Buffalo Sabres and the Nashville Predators, but they hit a bit of a rough patch throughout the week. After losing 6-2 to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night, they followed up that up with a 4-1 loss at home to the Ottawa Senators on Friday night and their performance was so bad that head coach Rod Brind'Amour was ready to get back in the lineup.

Considering the ‘Canes started the week with wins over the Sabres and Preds and capped it off with losses to the Rangers and Sens, it’s very easy to see why Brind'Amour’s patience when it comes to his team’s performance is wearing a bit thin.

Carolina will look to end its losing skid on Sunday night in Edmonton.
