Over the past couple years, Robin Lehner has become one of the most likable NHLers in the league. His playful personality and unapologetic honesty definitely help to secure his fan-favourite status, but above all may be his story.

A couple years ago, Lehner seeked help for substance abuse issues he’d been hiding for years. At the time he was depressed and lost, and when he went to seek help for the mental health issues that haunted him.

It changed his life. You may remember the awesomely inspirational moment he delivered at the NHL Awards last June.

On Saturday, Lehner celebrated a very special anniversary with an emotional post of gratitude for all those that helped him, and a message about the significance of sharing mental health issues.

Pictured is a cross Lehner wears around his neck, even during gameplay – no matter how much it sometimes hurts.

Keep killing it, Robin!
