If you’re a big UFC fan, then you know how dangerous Khabib Nurmagomedov is in the octagon. The lightweight has never lost a match in the UFC, going a perfect 25-0.
While that’s very impressive in its own right, what’s perhaps more impressive and eye-opening is that Khabib once wrestled bears during his youth in his homeland of Russia.
Khabib is fighting Max Holloway at UFC 223. Before his upcoming match, TSN’s MMA analyst Robin Black decided to do play-by-play over top of one of Khabib’s videos from when he was 9-years-old back in his hometown of Dagestan, Russia.
If you’re wearing headphones, put them or, or turn up your speakers, because this is pretty good.
You might be wondering by now why Khabib decided to wrestle bears as a kid. According to an interview with his father from BloodyElbow.com, Khabib was simply trying to show his character and capabilities in hopes of impressing his dad.
“Firstly, a child always wants his father to see what his son is capable of. It is a pity that there was nothing more interesting when he was younger. In the end, this was a test of character more than exercise.”
Now that's a very interesting way to craft your technique. Only in Russia.
