Wow. We’re going to need the whole week to recover from Week 14’s Monday Night Football game.
Back and forth scoring, division rivalry game, playoff implications… all those are great, but our favourite part was the triumphant return of Lamar Jackson after a mysterious trip to the locker room.
After heading to the locker room with what the team is calling cramps, the Browns were able to erase a two-score deficit and actually take a one point lead. As a result, the Ravens appeared to be leaning on Trace McSorely to drive the Ravens down field. All of a sudden, Lamar returns from the locker room to inherit a 4th-and-5, where he promptly hits Hollywood Brown for the go-ahead score.
Unbelievable, but by this point some fans weren’t exactly buying the “cramps” story…
Twitter quickly lit on fire with fans tweeting their belief that Lamar had actually been involved in more of a Paul Pierce-in-a-wheelchair situation, if ya know what I mean, Hey, you never know when nature will call.
When the Ravens shared out the update, none other than former NHL goaltender Roberto Luongo responded.
Luongo is one of the best Twitter accounts out there, in our humble opinion. Even by his standards, he struck gold with this one.
“Lu” infamously had to excuse himself during the intermission to hit the bathroom stalls ahead of OT against the Anaheim Ducks in Round 2, Game 5 of the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Down 3-1 in the series, one goal against would end the Canucks season, and in comes Dany Sabourin for the start of overtime.
Luckily for Lu, Sabourin held down the fort for the first three and a half minutes of OT, making five saves along the way. Luongo then returned, and the game went to double OT, where the Canucks eventually lost.
For what it’s worth, Lamar denies the comparison to Luongo and Paul Pierce.
