It’s been a long, long week for MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. The Houston Astros will not be stripped of their World Series in 2017 despite using technology to steal signs during their run, a commissioner’s decision that a lot of people have been pretty outspoken about disagreeing with.

On top of the decision, Manfred didn’t do any favours in his explanation of the decision. He called baseball’s most coveted prize “a piece of metal” while trying to argue that taking a World Series away would be futile, and that did NOT sit well with the baseball world (and beyond).

On Tuesday, Manfred issued an apology for his comments. He explained that it was a slip up during a long, exhausting interview, and apologized to all those that were offended by the comment.

Life goes on, but we’re guessing that this isn’t the end of what has been an awful fiasco.

It will be interesting to see how the situation continues to develop, that’s for sure.
