Alright, so this is a weird one. RJ Barrett, who is currently posting dismal shooting percentages of 39.1 percent from the field, 31.1 percent on threes and 60.1 percent on free throws in his rookie season with the New York Knicks, decided to come out and reveal that this entire time, he’s been shooting with his off hand.

It turns out that although he shoots lefty, he’s actually right-handed. Even more weird, Barrett says that he actually does have better shooting form with his right hand, but prefers shooting with his left because he’s more comfortable with that.

At least for now, fellow Canadian Tristan Thompson still has him beat with an even more unusual story about his shooting hand — after shooting left-handed in his first two NBA seasons, Thompson began shooting with his right from his third season on.

Unlike Barrett, Thompson wasn’t a perimeter player and rarely ever attempts jump shots at all, even at this stage of his career. It would sure be interesting if Barrett decides to make the same change with his stroke at some point, especially if those shooting percentages don’t turn around.

This is, of course, a very New York Knicks thing to happen.
