Now with ESPN, Ryan is doing panel work for Sunday NFL Countdown, and has transformed his polarizing personality into an analyst role.
Last week, Ryan’s former quarterback Geno Smith surprisingly started for the New York Giants and actually put up respectable numbers filling in for Eli Manning that ultimately lead to the firing of head coach Ben McAdoo. While Smith’s performance was noteworthy, his post-game comments were pretty candid, as the 27-year decided to take some shots at his former coach, calling him a coward.
Well, Rex had his chance at a rebuttal, and he got pretty ruthless on Geno, citing back to when IK Enemkpali smashed Smith’s jaw prior to the 2015 season that resulted in Geno missing the first six weeks of the season.
After Enemkpali was let go from the Jets, Ryan signed him to the Bills and even made him team captain, which optically made it look like Enemkpali had Ryan’s full support through the incident.
Now that’s some serious trolling from Ryan.
Smith will be watching from the sidelines on Sunday when the Giants face the Cowboys on Sunday, as Manning will take back his starting gig.
