Fans are grieving after the death of the rapper DMX this week following a heart attack. From his 1998 albums to some of his hits such as “Party Up” or “X Gon’ Give It to Ya,” DMX had a huge impact on many people whether they were deep fans of his music or just casual listeners.

In sports, a lot of DMX’s music was the sort of stuff you would you hear in locker room playlists to get people hyped up, and one of the cooler crossovers was actually the intro to EA Sports’ Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004, when “Party Up” was the game’s opening theme.

It’s weird, right? A DMX intro to a video game, and for golf at that. We definitely don’t think of East Coast party rap when we think about the PGA Tour. Still, this is just absolutely glorious — the sort of ambitious crossover that just works perfectly.

Across the sports world, many athletes shared messages mourning the loss of DMX. He was 50 years old when he passed.
