At this point, it seems like there’s nothing but paperwork standing in the way of Seattle getting an NHL team.
Today was the start of the city’s season ticket drive that was meant to prove to the NHL that the city is a viable option to support an NHL team. Well, the early numbers are in for the season ticket deposit sales and they have shocked the hockey community with an impressive turn out.
There’s not much more a city can do to prove it deserves an NHL team than this.
Obviously to see how impressive this is, it’s helpful to have some context. Vegas impressed people with their season ticket drive in 2015 and have continued to impress with their attendance in their inaugural season.
In a timeline of 12 minutes vs. two days, Seattle blew Vegas out of the water.
So, we can pretty much assume we’ll be seeing a Seattle NHL team pretty soon.
