The 2016-2017 hockey season has been over for about a month now, but it's never too late to reflect on the season that was.
In 2017, Ottawa Senators defenceman Erik Karlsson set his place in history after leading the Ottawa Senators in points for a fourth consecutive season. According to Reddit Hockey, Karlsson is one of just three D-men that have led his team in points at least four times. The other two are former New York Islanders defenceman Denis Potvin (4) and longtime Boston Bruins defenceman Ray Bourque (5).
As you can see, another legendary Bruin, Bobby Orr, managed to accomplish the feat just twice. That number likely would be different today, however, had it not been for a nagging injury that ultimately cost him his career.
The only kicker to the list is that incredible defenceman have been on teams with strong forwards (relative to Ottawa's now) before, and therefore struggled to lead their team in scoring. Still, the accomplishment is pretty incredible nonetheless, especially in today's NHL.
If EK65 keeps it up, he'll unquestionably go down as one of the best skaters to ever play the position.
