Tim Tebow was a polarizing figure as a football player, and that volatility has only increased as he’s tried to make his way into baseball.
It was announced yesterday that Tim Tebow would join the Mets’ Low-A affiliate, the Columbia Fireflies. He’ll play against players much younger than him and if he can’t stand out in that league, then it’s unlikely he has a future in baseball. Still, despite this being probably the best way for someone to test the waters with a unknown talent, one team in the league is unhappy with his inclusion.
The Red Sox South Atlantic League affiliate, the Greenvile Drive, absolutely ripped him on Twitter:
Of course, the irony in the whole rant, that tweeting about it at all is a kind of PR stunt of their own. They have hated on Tebow playing baseball before, and the Columbia Fireflies called them out for it. Despite them stating they wouldn’t do something like that in the past, they continue to tweet about him in the league, thus making it a bigger story.
They say they are just having fun with it, but we’re sure Tebow didn’t find it too funny.
