Now that the rest of the NHL’s regular season has been called off, the seven teams that won’t make the proposed 24-team playoff field are going to have to sit with the fact that their season is over.
That’s especially tough for the Buffalo Sabres, who are going to be missing the playoffs for the ninth straight season, and despite a promising core of young players, Rasmus Ristolainen did not hold back about the team’s “bright future” that still has yet to materialize.
The rebuilding process is never easy, because even after putting together a team of high draft picks and other prospects, you still have to do the actual legwork of getting back to the playoffs.
Ristolainen isn’t the only Sabres players to voice his frustrations to the media after the Sabres’ elimination — team captain Jack Eichel doesn’t sound too happy, either.
