Ryan Miller is officially hanging up the skates.
Forever.
The all time winningest American-born goalie in NHL history is officially retiring.
The 40 year-old vet announced on Thursday that his 18 long NHL career will be coming to an end following the Anaheim Ducks 2021 season. Between Buffalo, Vancouver, St. Louis and Anaheim, Miller has picked up 796 games! From winning the Vezina Trophy in 2010 to being an Olympic MVP, we think it’s safe to say that he’s had a pretty successful and memorable NHL career.
With that, he’s also had some pretty hilarious moments along the way. In light of Miller’s retirement, here are his top three funniest moments.
1. Locker room scrum *NSFW warning*
A little shoot-off never hurts, right? Throwback to when Milan Lucic completely ran over Miller during the Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins game on November 12, 2011. Following the game, Miller did NOT hold back from expressing how he truly felt about Lucic steamrolling him.
2. Amp Energy commercial
If this isn’t one of your favourite commercials as a hockey fan then we don’t know what is. Ryan Miller vs Sebastian Aubin in a Yo Mama contest will forever be pure gold.
3.. Sticking up for Troy Stecher
During Miller’s times on the Canucks he pulled the ultimate teammate move for a rookie on his team. Just four games into Troy Stecher’s NHL career, Stecher got into a tilt with Matt Martin and Miller jumped in to save him. Now, NHL goalies don’t always fight but when they do it’s one for the books!
Happy retirement, Miller!
