Every year professional athletes go down with gruesome injuries that keep them out for a lengthy period of time, sometimes for the entire season, but we also see athletes go down with very unlucky injuries as well.
The 2018 MLB season is still over three months away but we already have our first bizarre injury to report.
On Tuesday afternoon, Dallas Morning News Rangers writer Evan Grant confirmed that pitcher Martin Perez will be missing an extended period of time after he suffered an injury in his non-pitching elbow after an incident with a bull. That’s right, a bull.
While you probably think this injury occurred while he was riding the bull, it turns out he wasn’t even on it and the injury happened after Perez was startled by the bull.
The 26-year-old went 13-12 with 115 strikeouts and a 4.82 ERA in 185 innings of work and he’s now expected to miss the first few weeks of the regular season.
