Triple plays aren’t as rare as they used to be but it’s still exciting to see a team pull one off, especially right before your eyes.

The Los Angeles Angels paid a visit to the Texas Rangers on Thursday night and were in a really good position in the top of the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. With the Angels leading 6-3 with the bases loaded and zero outs, David Fletcher stepped up to the plate. The second baseman delivered a well-hit ball down the third baseline, only to have it snagged by Jurickson Profar, who made a great heads-up play from there.

Even the umpires appeared to lose count of how many outs the Rangers actually managed to record on the play, but the players were very quick to let it be known that they did indeed pull off the rare 5-4 triple play.

Bases loaded, nobody out. What could possibly go wrong? #TipOfTheCap

The play ended up being a lot bigger when the game was all said and done as the Rangers managed to pull off the comeback and won the game 8-6 thanks to just the second triple play of the entire season and first one since 1912 in which the batter wasn't retired.
