Toronto Raptors fans everywhere woke up on Thursday knowing there’d be a good chance that either both or one of Kyle Lowry and Norman Powell could be on the way out before the trade deadline hit.

Well, Lowry stayed put but Powell was dealt to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Scheduled to make his Blazers debut on Friday night, Powell met with the media ahead of Portland’s tilt with the Orlando Magic and shared what he’ll miss most about playing in Toronto, and how the trade caught him a little off guard.

Powell wasn’t caught off guard because he wasn’t expected to be traded or because he was being kept in the dark about what was going on, it was just because of how quickly things changed after he spoke to his agent that he couldn’t believe it was actually happening.

It’s never easy to get traded, especially when the team you’re leaving is the only team you’ve ever suited up for during your career. But Powell knew there was a good chance it could happen and it did, but there’s still nothing but love for him back in Toronto.

Powell is playing his best basketball this season as he’s averaging 19.6 points per game and shooting 43% from the three-point range, so he should fit right in with his new squad.
