It’s been a tough season for the Ottawa Senators. While some of the young talent is exciting, and the “Sicko Sens” trend has been fun, when you’re not winning then you’re not having a good time. Simple as that.
There haven’t been too many bright spots for the Sens playing in a tough North Division, but one of them has been how they’ve fared against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Heading into Thursday’s game, the Sens and Leafs had split their season series 2-2 despite being at opposite ends of the division. Thursday’s game saw the two teams in another battle, one that needed OT.
After a nifty move from Auston Matthews almost worked, Justin Holl deposited the game winner to the delight of his GM Kyle Dubas. On the other side, Pierre Dorion – GM of the Sens – well…
That’s the kind of reaction you would usually see in playoffs, not necessarily from a bottom-dwelling team playing against one of the top teams in the division in the middle of the regular season.
Goes to show how tense the Battle of Ontario gets.
