The Department of Player Safety has announced that Tom Wilson will have a hearing today for his hit on Zach Aston-Reese, something that is likely too little too late for the Penguins.
Wilson has delivered several big hits in Washington’s series against Pittsburgh and some fans have been calling for suspensions on more than one of his hits. The first questionable hit in the Penguins series was a blindside hit on Brian Dumoulin that Wilson didn’t receive any discipline for and fans weren’t happy. Now, the game after, Wilson made another dangerous hit and Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan was upset that this injury is what it was going to take to get a hearing. (WATCH THE HIT)
As for what will come from this, people have differing opinions. Some feel the initial point of contact came with his shoulder, others feel it was the head. Some people feel he left his feet, others do not.
He’s having his hearing today, so it remains to be seen if he will miss any games because of it, but Aston-Reese certainly will.
