NHL teams usually set aside a specific night during the season to host a charitable gala and that night was Tuesday for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Although the team got a three-game road trip underway in Columbus on Sunday, the Pens are off until Friday night when they travel to Carolina, so they took advantage of their time off to raise some money for charity. Since it’s a special night, it called for special outfits for the players.
The Penguins players switched up their gear on Tuesday night for their Night of Assists charity gala and hit the floor at the PPG Paints Arena in spiffy suits and they had it all from top hats to canes.
PPG Paints Arena was transformed into an incredible circus-themed event on Tuesday and the Penguins organization went all out for the big night.
Although the night is all about showing the fans and supporters a good time while raising money for charity, the Penguins players had some fun of their own. During the team photo in the locker room, the guys were joined by a magician, who decided to ask Evgeni Malkin for help on a trick. As you probably guessed, it backfired and turned into a joke on Phil.
Every team needs a character in their dressing room like Phil Kessel.
