Peanuts was created by Charles M. Schulz and originally launched in 1950. The comic strip ran daily from October 2, 1950, to January 3, 2000, and ran on Sundays from January 6, 1952, to February 13, 2000. However, Schulz passed away on February 12, 2000, but Peanuts lives on thanks to reruns.

On the website gocomics.com, a random Peanuts cartoon is featured daily on the Peanuts page, which is a pretty cool way to experience a blast from the past on a daily basis. On Sunday, the Peanuts comic strip that was featured is one of the best ones in the entire collection.

Schulz was actually a very big hockey fan. He was enshrined in the United States Hockey Hall of Fame back in 1993 and was awarded the Lester Patrick Trophy in 1981.

He owned his own arena in Santa Rosa, California, which was called the Redwood Empire Ice Arena but was better known as Snoopy’s Home Ice. Aside from all of this, there’s an arena named after him in his hometown of Saint Paul, Minnesota, called the Charles M. Schulz Highland Arena.
