Paul Pierce is a Hall of Famer, an NBA Champion, a Finals MVP, a 10x All-Star, and… a possible pants pooper!!!

While Pierce’s career accolades speak for themselves, a lot of people have one particular night that comes to mind when they think of the longtime Boston Celtics star. The infamous – nay, ICONIC – wheelchair night.

It was Game 1 of the 2008 NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. Down by four midway through the 3rd quarter, Pierce collided with teammate Kendrick Perkins and immediately went down on the court. After being attended to by medical staff, it was determined that a wheelchair was necessary to bring Paul Pierce back to the locker room.

Only, not necessarily because he was too hurt to walk back himself. No, no, no… many basketball fans believe there was more at play!

For years it was speculated that Pierce had an accident while on the floor, and that he used the Wheelchair to disguise what had really happened. He was only back in the locker room for a few minutes before returning, which is what originally arose suspicion.

Right up until 2019, Pierce vehemently denied the poop story. Then, on one miraculous and hilarious evening, Pierce admitted there HAD been an accident!

Seems like a pretty staunch confession, no? While he doesn’t directly say “I pooped myself,” he does literally SAY that he has a confession, and then admits to an accident.

Well, maybe the confession was false, or maybe it didn’t kill all the “Paul Poo Pierce” jokes the way he would have liked, but speaking to Michelle Beadle (who was on the confession broadcast) on her podcast “What Did I Miss?”, Pierce scoffs at people that actually believe he pooped his pants and rode a wheelchair to the locker room, and goes on to explain why it wouldn’t make any sense.

Personally, I don’t think it’s that bewildering that people would believe the poop story when Pierce himself seemingly confirmed it just two years ago. But hey, maybe that’s just me!
