Paul Maurice was up to his old antics on Thursday night following the Jets’ dominant 5-1 win over the Senators.
Mark Scheifele scored a hat-trick and was ultimately named the game’s first star, but it was a newcomer who the longtime bench-boss couldn’t stop gloating over in his post-game presser. Maurice was asked about former Sens defenceman Danny DeMelo’s first game as a Jet and got maybe just a bit… too excited while summing up his performance.
Seriously.
Classic!
If you’re looking for some more golden Maurice sound bites, well, we’ve got you covered. Here’s the 53-year-old describing what 3-on-3 overtime is like:
Anddddd here’s him joking about coaches getting fired around the league. Someone get this guy a microphone and a 5 minute stands-up gig please.
DeMelo was sent to Winnipeg on Tuesday in exchange for a third round pick. The London, Ontario native logged 18:36 in his debut and finished with an even plus/minus rating.
Maurice recently signed a multi-year extension with the Jets so luckily for Winnipeg fans, the hilarious sound bites should keep on flowing.
