With the NHL currently in talks of how teams should return to play to complete the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, hockey fans have a lot to look forward to. Playoff hockey is awesome, but it’s made even better by the sweet facial hair that all the players grow.

According to Patrik Laine, we should probably say ALMOST all the players grow for this post season.

Laine, as we all know, was the culprit of one of the most questionable beard in the NHL last season. His scraggily, sandy whiskers drew a lot of ire from NHL fans, while also drawing a bit of a fan club based on just how dreadful it was. Whether you were pro or against Laine’s beard, one thing was for sure  - EVERYONE had a opinion.

For those against his beard, they’ll be happy to hear Laine has nixed the idea of a beard return this year. In a quote from NHL.com, Laine owns up to the fact that it didn’t really look that good, and that the product of a bet with his cousin to see who could grow a better one would in fact not be reappearing on his face.

"No that was once, just once for me," Laine said Friday. "Once was enough. And it didn't look good either, so I'm done with the beard."

If you listen close enough, you can hear a collective sigh of relief from beard enthusiasts around the league.
