Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks are used to hunting for the Stanley Cup around this time of year, but the times are changing. The Blackhawks were one of the first teams to be eliminated from the playoffs this year and as a result, they have some unfamiliar feelings.

After being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs the Blackhawks are having to find some different styles of motivation for their remaining games and for Kane that seems to be playing spoiler.

The Blackhawks have two games remaining against the St. Louis Blues and it’s possible that the Blues will need to win out to have a shot at making the playoffs. They are a point behind the Colorado Avalanche with only three games remaining. Kane is hoping that he can have a hand in eliminating the team’s Central Division rival.

You often get a feeling that players get some satisfaction out of eliminating another team from the playoff race, but they rarely talk about it so openly.

It will be interesting to see how Kane and the Blackhawks perform against the Blues in their games. The Blues have been asking some other teams for help, but it’s clear that they won’t be getting any help from the Blackhawks.
