There's very few people in basketball right now that have a higher ceiling than UConn' Paige Bueckers.

In fact, we don't think there's a single one.

The 19-year-old freshman is coming off a dazzling game against No. 2 Baylor where she put up 28 points to catapult UConn to Final Four glory, and has been standout all season and tournament long.

Paige 'Buckets' is in a league entirely of her own, and this honour proves it.

Bueckers was just named AP Player of the Year, receiving an overwhelming 21 votes from the panel of 30.

What's most impressive about this? Bueckers is the first freshman to win the award.

Ever.

Following the announcement, Bueckers gave this heartfelt speech.

In case you were wondering whether or not she's the kind of player you want to cheer for, this definitely confirms she's a good one.

To further put it into perspective, Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart are the only two players to ever win the award as sophomores, and everyone else who has ever gotten the nod has been a junior or a senior.

It'll be amazing to see just how high Paige can fly, and to think this is only the beginning is unreal.

Congratulations!
